The Curriculum
WEEK 1: The Art Direction Crash Course
We’ll get clear on what an art director actually is, their role within the creative department, and what makes a strong art direction project.
Then you’ll start thinking of brands to use for your spec campaign — real brand, fake campaign.
Homework:
Create your dream brand short-list (10-20).
Start mining for insights and opportunities.
WEEK 2: Concepts & Thinking BIG
This is the ideation phase. We’ll take your 1-3 brands and start brainstorming strong, insight-driven ideas. Tension, taste, and a visual hook. BIG ideas. I’ll show you how.
You’ll learn how to make a one-slide concept board that sells the tone and vibe of your campaign.
We’ll also talk about how your idea alone can be sharable. A good visual idea, even before it’s reality, is something you can post and test.
Homework:
Ideate 20 concepts.
Make a concept board for 3-5 potential ones.
We’ll all provide feedback
WEEK 3: Campaign Execution & Craft
Now it’s time to bring it to life.
What makes art director projects different from other creative roles?
We’ll go over all the possibilities of a 360 campaign or brand platform.
We’ll look at easy ways to make clean, convincing comps using whatever tools you’re already comfortable with: Photoshop, Canva, Figma, CapCut, AI, etc.
You’ll start making executions that show off your direction.
Homework:
Create your visual assets and build out the full campaign story.
WEEK 4: Finish, Refine & Get Hired
This week is about making sure it’s tight, and fitting it into your portfolio.
I’ll show you how to round out the rest of your portfolio and how to steer it toward the type of work you want to do
We’ll also talk about what to do with it once you’re done:
- How to take the idea further
- How to post it like a creator (Reel, carousel, short video walkthrough)
- How to attract work and get jobs
- How to thrive in this new creator era
-
Pitching like a boss

FAQ
- What if I can’t join live because of my timezone?
- Classes will be recorded. Office hours are also provided for timezone flexibility.
- Do I need to know Photoshop?
- No. But I recommend it. You’ll need some sort of design software. You can use free software like Photopia, AI Image generating tools, or even Canva.
- Is this for beginners?
- Yes, but I expect you to already have some level of “making skills” or the ambition to figure it out as you go. I won’t be teaching you specific software. Art direction is about thinking conceptually and figuring out the execution whether or not you know how.
- What if I’m already an art director but I want to get better?
- Then LFG! A lot of art directors struggle with insights & big ideas. Let’s get you to the next level! I think this will still be worthwhile.
- Are there refunds?
-
No. But if you show up to everything and put in the work, but still didn’t get any value from the experience, I’ll give you your money back.
